DIGITAL L&D AT HARPER COLLINS

We were hired by the People Director of the UK publishing arm of Harper Collins to create and manage a Digital Learning and Development Strategy for the company’s nine-hundred staff.

Previously, the client had only delivered learning and development via f-2-f interventions, and the People Director wanted to adopt more 21st century approaches while also making significant budget savings. As part of a restructure of his team, he decided to outsource the service completely to us on a two-year retained contract.

In 2016, we created a digital curriculum online which is enhanced by a short, sharp masterclass programme. Over 80% of the business has engaged with the platform since its launch. Each month, the unique and returnable traffic is increasing, and we have adapted the architecture of the platform to remain agile in line with feedback from the business.

We have generated externally curated articles in tandem with internal bespoke films and podcasts, all of which highlight the skills and behaviours that are important to Harper Collins. We also produce quarterly reports based on a mix of Key Performnce Indicators, covering both usage and behavioural change within the business. These allow Harper Collins to track the effectiveness of the system and, where necessary, make adjustments to maximise engagement.
